The Chowan River is known for some of the best fresh water fishing in North Carolina. It originates at the North Carolina/Virginia border where the Blackwater and Nottoway rivers meet and continues flowing southeast to the Albemarle Sound.
This 50 mile river is abundant with multiple species of fish and provides an OPEN fishing season all year round.
BIG blue catfish can be found in the Chowan River. (Largest known catch in last two years was 82 pounds!) When you fish with Captain Terry, he fishes for the trophy fish as well as eating fish. All catfish over 10 pounds are photographed and released. You still get your bragging rights.
Good catches of stripers, bass, perch, sunfish and crappie can also be found in the Chowan River.
Whether you are looking to stock a freeze, or to spend time recreational fishing, or looking to improve your fishing skills, or to learn new skills, OBX Inshore Fishing Excursions can accommodate you.
